Using the Secure Shell

You can perform deepOfix mail server administration by connecting via secure shell from your machine.

Through SSH

You can perform administration tasks on deepOfix by connecting through the secure shell client (SSH). You need to have the ssh client installed on your system.

To connect to your deepOfix server, you need to supply the administrator username (root) and the hostname or IP address of the deepOfix server to the ssh command. If ssh is installed, you will be asked for your password. Here, you should supply the administrator password you gave during deepOfix installation. If your password is correct, you are ready to perform any administration task remotely. For example:

user@mymachine:directory$ ssh root@192.168.1.151

root@192.168.1.151's password:

Last login: Thu Mar 15 13:29:34 2007

Linux hostname 2.6.18.6-deeprootlinux #2 SMP Wed Jan 10 20:28:45 IST 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

Email: support@deeproot.in

Call : +91 (80) 4112 4784 / 85

root@hostname:directory#

In the above instance, the user tries to log in to the deepOfix server with the IP address 192.168.1.151. The user is asked for her password. After entering the password, the user is taken to a shell prompt on the deepOfix mail server.

Through PuTTY

PuTTY is a free telnet/SSH client which runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP and Vista. Specify the IP address of the deepOfix server and select the “SSH” radio button:

Click open to connect. You need to supply the adminstrator username (root) and the deepOfix administration password:

Once logged in, you can issue an entire array of powerful administration commands for your deepOfix server.
