Configure email reception and delivery
Using Easypush, a server admin can do different tasks related to email reception and delivery.
SMTP Settings
Basic Settings
Basic Settings is used to change the basic settings of the SMTP protocol in the server. A server admin can change the following settings using Easypush:
- Change the default port of SMTP, which is port number 25 to any port number.
- Set the Maximum number of simultaneous SMTP, IMAP, POP3 connections so that the server is not overloaded with connections.
- Set the memory limit for SMTP server.
- Limit the maximum size of messages the server will process.
- Limit the number of recipients for individual messages.
- Set the time for which a mail can be in the queue after which it will be discarded.
- Enable or disable scanning of messages for spam and virus.
- Check whether the mail is being sent by a local valid user
- Check whether the email address syntax is proper or not.
- Specify whether a notification should be sent to specific email addresses is to be sent after successful email delivery.
- Enable force authentication after which users can send mail only after authentication.
Relay Settings
Relay settings is used to specify IP addresses to which emails to specific doimains will be relayed. If the IP address specified has enabled force SMTP authentication, then you need to provide username and password for authentication. If the IP address mentioned is using some custom port number and not the default SMTP port number then even that needs to be specified.
Relay Access Control
Relay Access Control is used when the server admin wants to allow or deny any specific IP address to send mails through the server.
Non-deliverable Mail Handling
Using Easypush, a server admin can configure server to handle non-deliverable emails. This occurs when the mail server gets emails for which there are no users on the server.
Handling Bounced Mail
For emails addressed to non-existent users, a server admin using Easypush can select any of the following settings:
- Mails can be rejected at SMTP level. This means that the emails never enters the mail server.
- The default settings for emails to non-existent users is to bounce it back. This means the sender receives the email back.
- A server admin can also set to relay bounced emails through some specific IP addresses.
- A server admin can set some specific users to get all the bounced emails. The users can either be a local users or a users of some other domain.
Settings for a Bounced Mail
A server admin can limit the size of any bounced mails using Easypush. He can also override the default messages in any bounced message by customized messages.
Also the server can also be set to accept emails for some specific email addresses in any condition.
